Nearly 40% of advisors are expected to retire in the next decade, according to Cerulli. As a result, many firms are looking to add new talent to close the gap. This provides a unique opportunity to make significant progress in attracting new and diverse talent to this noble profession. But transitioning into our industry, particularly from a different profession or right out of college, can be intimidating. That led Raymond James to create the Wealth Management Associate Program (WealthMAP), designed as a bridge for new talent prior to entering the firm’s training program – increasing their runway to becoming successful advisors. WealthMAP gives candidates hands-on experience and robust preparation (see supplemental materials for details) to build their confidence and chances of long-term success as advisors.

This process provides a health check report, access to a practice management coach for a consultative review, and on-demand solutions, as well as a team report to assess future advisory partnerships for long-term succession and team planning.

RAMP Transforms Branch Associates into Next Generation of Advisors
Our advisory teams are more dynamic than ever before with specialized and diverse staff. Branch associates seem to be a natural pipeline for next generation of advisors; however, career path ambiguity, wavering confidence, and skills needed to ‘make it’ as an advisor holds talented individuals back. The enhanced Registered Associate Mentoring Program (RAMP) removes barriers, creating an inclusive environment for branch associates to develop into advisors. The program’s robust, year-long curriculum provides top advisor mentorship and coaching, behavioral assessments, targeted workshops and networking opportunities at the Women’s Symposium, and a pathway to obtain the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation. Recently, we’ve adapted the learning content and guided action planning to increased participant self-awareness and confidence resulting in a 55% increase participant conversion into financial advisors.
