Lon T. Dolber is the founder and CEO of American Portfolios (AP), a national, Long Island-based firm, which became operational on Sept. 10, 2001, fortuitously one day before 9-11. Yet this national tragedy and the economic downturn to follow would not thwart the success of AP as a thriving, independent broker/dealer (IBD) serving more than 800 registered representatives in 397 branch locations throughout the country. With a strong focus in developing technological and operational efficiencies within the business, Dolber also serves as AP’s CIO; this—combined with nearly 40 years of amassed knowledge and experience in the industry as a financial services professional—has enabled Dolber to provide leadership and strategic thinking for AP to support its affiliated advisors and their practices. Since the firm’s inception, Dolber has stayed committed to fostering a culture of true independence and value to its affiliated advisors in an ever-changing industry.
